Spider-Man: The Phoenix Rises (also known as Spider-Man 5) is an upcoming American action horror film directed by Robert Schwentke and written by James Vanderbilt. It is the fifth installment in the Spider-Man film seriesand the sequel to 2011 film Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire reprising her role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The other main cast included Hugo WeavingMarisol NicholsJodie Foster, and Sean Bean. Principal photography began on September 21, 2015 in New York City, United States.

Spider-Man 5 is scheduled to be released on September 23, 2016 by Columbia Pictures. The film is the directing debut by Schwentke.

Series co-star Kirsten Dunst said Spider-Man 4 will be the first in what is envisioned as a new series. Columbia Pictures said in March 2012 that it had contracted James Vanderbilt to write a sequel to Spider-Man, and in August 2012, Sony announced a release date of September 23, 2016.

Columbia Pictures confirmed that Robert Schwentke will be directing the Spider-Man sequel. Flightplan writers Peter A. Dowling, Billy Ray, and The Wachowski Brothers wrote the screenplay, based in part on a draft from Spider-Man scribe, James Vanderbilt. Shooting is supposed to begin in September 2015.

Sequels Edit

In January 2016, Columbia announced it had set release dates for the next two Spider-Man films. The sixth film was scheduled for release on May 21, 2021 and the seventh film scheduled to be released on June 27, 2025 On May 26, 2016, Maguire confirmed that he will return for the first sequel.
